The AMA has won several key changes in the latest Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) revision of its policies. These included changes to the definition of extenuating and unforeseen circumstances, and removing the blanket exclusion of circumstances involving specific family and relationship changes. The AMA also successfully prevented the removal of all compliance and monitoring clauses from policies and won changes to 5.4.1 in the program leave policy that previously restricted registrars being unable to undertake paid work while on Category 1 leave. The clause has now been revised allowing more flexibility for registrars.
