This week in the Medical Journal of Australia

An editorial in this week’s issue of MJA discusses the problem with modern endocrinology, explaining that improved doctor-patient communications and more research are necessary to better understand the real outcomes for some patients with endocrine disorders.

Author Jeffrey Zajac writes that this issue of MJA tackles these problems in four major areas of endocrinology: diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid disease and male hypogonadism. According to the author, it is likely these diseases involve half the population over 50 years of age.
