DVA treatment cycle changes to allied health referrals delayed until 1 October

AMA Members are advised that the introduction of treatment cycle changes to allied health referrals will now be introduced on 1 October 2019. Existing referral arrangements for DVA patients will stay in place until 30 September 2019.

GPs should note that come 1 October 2019 the treatment cycle will not apply for physiotherapy or exercise physiology services for DVA clients who have a Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) Gold Card. However, it will apply for TPI clients when referred to other allied health services.

The introduction has been delayed to allow DVA patients, allied health providers, and general practitioners more time to prepare and to provide more support and more detailed information before the treatment cycle commences.

Further information is available at the DVA website for the treatment cycle changes.
