Submission on proposed reforms to the Specialist Training Program

The Specialist Training Program (STP) is a Commonwealth government program that provides funding to support specialist training posts in settings outside traditional metropolitan teaching hospitals. The AMA has made a submission on proposed reforms to the STP put forward by the Department of Health. The AMA broadly supports the proposals to streamline the program. This is the second round of consultation with stakeholders on the STP. We called for a significant expansion of the program in our submission to the first round of consultation held during September-October last year.
