AMA submission to the ACCC on private health insurance anti competitive practices

The AMA's submission to the ACCC ​identifies serious problems commonly experienced by patients and their doctors as a result of deficiencies in the transparency, accuracy and consistency of information provided by private health insurers. Based on member feedback, the AMA’s submission highlight​s:​ problems caused by exclusion and public hospital-only products; insurer refusals to pay benefits for legitimate plastic and reconstructive surgery; and the impact of gap arrangements.
