AMA submission to the TGA on codeine and sildenafil scheduling proposal

The AMA supports retaining the existing scheduling for codeine and sildenafil. Considerable analysis and public consultation contributed to the recent codeine up-scheduling decision. The TGA has only recently rejected an application by pharmaceutical companies allow sildenafil to be purchased without a prescription. The AMA is not aware of any new evidence supporting any changes to scheduling for either medicines.
