AMA submission to the Medical Board of Australia – draft guidelines for registered medical practitioners – complementary and unconventional medicine and emerging treatments.

In this submission, the AMA supports the Board’s proposal to issue additional guidance on complementary medicine to clarify ‘good medical practice’, which reflects clinically appropriate, ethical and professional practice. The AMA outlines its concerns regarding guideline implications for medical practitioners, including adequate communication of the document, off-label prescribing, and a medical practitioner’s duty of care to their patient.
