AMA submission to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee - Inquiry into the need for a nationally-consistent approach to alcohol-fuelled violence

The AMA is very concerned about the need for consistent national approaches to alcohol-fuelled violence.  We have played a leading public role in addressing this problem for a number of years and have repeatedly voiced our concern about alcohol-related violence within the community.  Unfortunately excessive alcohol consumption has become common place in Australia, and appropriate measures by government to limit the harms resulting from this behaviour are long overdue.
