AMA submission to ANAO Audit Managing Health Provider Compliance
The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is conducting a performance audit in 2019/ 2020 to assess the effectiveness of the Department of Health’s approach to health provider compliance.
The Managing health provider compliance audit sought input from members of the public until 15 December 2019 - particularly information that deals with significant matters or insights into the administration of the subject of this audit. The audit report will be tabled in Parliament in May 2020.
The AMA lodged a submission in December 2019, which provided comments on the following issues:
- importance of consistency of advice by Government agencies on correct use of MBS items;
- requirement for improved profession education, communication and resources regarding MBS item changes and claiming; and
- approaches to compliance monitoring activities and actions.
