AMA Submission to the Aged Care Worker Regulation Scheme Consultation

In July the AMA provided a submission to the Aged Care Worker Regulation Scheme consultation initiated by the Department of Health. The AMA sees personal care worker regulation as one of the key steps in improving the quality of care provision in aged care. The AMA supported the establishment of a National Worker Registration Scheme in aged care that would encompass minimum qualifications for aged care workers, worker screening, code of conduct for aged care workers, minimum English language requirement, continuous professional development and recognition of previous work experience for aged care workers.
