Employment lifecycle
The employment cycle highlights the various stages employees will go through in their career at your practice and the processes involved in managing employees throughout their employment journey.
We have received lots of positive feedback in relation to the introduction of this cycle and can confirm many of our practices have referred to this wheel and applied its strategies to their practice. Since its inception, we have further expanded the practice strategy to include individual packs relating to each segment within the wheel.
- Attract – how we go about attracting the candidates with the talent, skills and capabilities identified in the practice plan or workforce strategy
- Recruit – the process of selecting the right candidate for the vacant position on the team with the aim of not having other organisations snapping them up before we can get them onboard
- Onboard – the way in which new employees are provided relevant information and support so they feel part of the team and integrate with everyone else
- Learning and Development – is the focus placed on enhancing knowledge, skill and capabilities of individuals within the team
- Reward, Recognition and Benefits – the way a practice utilises a mix of tangible or intangible incentives, acknowledgement, appreciation and non-wage compensation initiatives, such as employee of the month to create a positive and engaging team environment that motivates the team members to enhance their individual performance as well as team contribution.
- Progression and Performance - go hand in hand as in consistent high levels of performance excellence within the team is often a prerequisite for career progression or access to new opportunities.
- Retain/Exit – are contradictory in nature as they refer to different staff outcomes. However, they are the balance to the effectiveness of the workforce strategy or practice plan. If you do not always want to be looking for new members to join your team then you need to understand how you can keep the team members that are critical to your practice plan engaged and learn from those who have left.
The packs are available to our Toolkit subscribers as part of the Toolkit product. If you are not a Toolkit subscriber, then these packs can be purchased by contacting the Workplace Relations Team on 07 3872 2264 or emailing us at workplacerelations@amaq.com.au.
