Public practice

Australian Salaried Medical Officers' Federation Queensland (ASMOFQ) is AMA Queensland's union partner. Our organisations work together to support doctors in public practice through:

industrial relations support and workplace disputes
membership engagement and benefits
advocacy and policy
campaigns and public pressure.

ASMOFQ

ASMOFQ's team has the ability and expertise to provide specialised health profession services, advice and advocacy on all industrial and workplace relations matters affecting employee doctor members. It represents salaried medical officers, visiting medical officers (VMOs), senior medical officers (SMOs), international medical graduates (IMGs), residents and interns.

ASMOFQ is also heavily involved in protecting the legal and legislative interests of salaried doctors. It works with the state government on matters such as the Medical Officers Certified Agreement (MOCA) which governs the remuneration and working conditions for salaried doctors.

Resident medical officers

The ASMOFQ team provides workplace relations support for all doctors working in the public health system, including residents and registrars. Its core business is lobbying state and federal government decisionmakers to ensure doctors have a safe, fair and equitable working environment.

Senior medical officers

The ASMOFQ team provides support for senior medical officers (SMOs) by lobbying state and federal government decisionmakers to ensure our members' working environment is safe, fair and equitable.

Other hospital employees

ASMOFQ's Workplace Relations team has the ability and expertise to provide specialised health profession services, advice and advocacy on all industrial and workplace relations affecting employee doctor members of AMA Queensland. We represent resident medical officers (RMOs), senior medical officers (SMOs) and visiting medical officers (VMOs) at the Mater Hospital along with private hospitals.
