Submission to Health, Environment and Agriculture Inquiry into the Vaping Bill
Queensland Health and, subsequently, the Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee sought AMA Queensland’s input to the government’s proposed amendments to vaping regulations.
AMA Queensland remains concerned about aspects of the proposed reforms, including:
- their effectiveness given recent changes in the Australian Government’s approach to vaping
- the risk of legitimising vapes as a therapeutic product
- the likelihood the laws will not adequately protect children from the harms of vaping and
- incoherence with recent Queensland Government reforms designed to prevent children being exposed to smoking in schools and other areas children necessarily frequent.
