Update for vaccine requirements for workers in health care settings

On 12 March, the Queensland Government made another update to their Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements Direction (No.4). The update to the direction included the following.

  • From 31 March 2022, workers in residential aged care facilities must have received a boost COVID-19 vaccination if eligible for it and continue to receive booster doses as recommended.
  • Operators of residential aged care facilities must develop a Workforce Management Plan.
  • Unvaccinated healthcare workers are required to undertake a COVID-19 test within 24 hours prior to entering the healthcare setting, if it is for a single visit. If the worker is entering on multiple consecutive days, they must get tested before entering the healthcare setting and then every second day.

With regards to other vaccination requirements easing in certain settings, this will not be applied to the medical and healthcare sector. This is still a requirement and is further imposed above with the recent direction update.
