Premier saw state through COVID
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's retirement is a time to reflect on her achievements during the pandemic.
AMA Queensland thanks the state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for her nine years of service to the state.
“Premier Palaszczuk saw the state through the COVID pandemic. Her actions meant we had only seven deaths in our state in the first year of a pandemic which claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world,” AMA Queensland President Dr Maria Boulton said.
“She also implemented most of the recommendations of the AMA Queensland Ramping Roundtable, including another 2,500 hospital beds and actions to make it easier to discharge patients outside regular opening hours.
“It is critical that the changes that started under the Palaszcuk government and Health Minister Shannon Fentiman continue.
“Whoever becomes Premier and Health Minister must keep this work going.
“AMA Queensland will work with whoever is in these crucial new jobs.
“The health of Queenslanders is too important to let day to day politics get in the way.”
