Family and domestic violence leave

This month, the full bench of the Fair Work Commission issued a provisional decision to include 10 days' paid family and domestic violence (FDV) leave in modern awards for full-time and, on a pro-rata basis, part-time employees. It has been proposed that the entitlement to 10 days paid FCV leave per year should accrue progressively across the year in the same way as personal/carer’s leave accrues under the National Employment Standards.

We will provide more information regarding this change when the Fair Work Commission finalise this update next month.

Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010 – Unpaid Family and Domestic Violence leave
The Fair Work Commission has amended the original unpaid family and domestic violence leave clause in the Hair and Beauty Award to refer to the National Employment Standards entitlements.

Employees covered by this award will continue to have access to five days' unpaid family and domestic violence leave each day.
