Fair pay secured for medical students in vaccine roll-out

AMA Queensland, along with our industrial relations partner the Australian Salaried Medical Officers' Federation Queensland (ASMOFQ), have secured fair pay for students involved in the Queensland Health vaccine rollout.

Students of medicine will be paid 80 per cent of the Intern Level 1 base rate as outlined in the Medical Officers’ Certified Agreement No 5 (MOCA5) and will have the same entitlements. Students may be employed part-time or full-time on a casual basis and can be involved in:

  • vaccine preparation;
  • vaccine administration;
  • monitoring patients post vaccination; and
  • assisting with consumer discussions around general vaccination information under appropriate supervision.
