Hospital performance website commendable
A new website lets people see how their hospital is performing.
AMA Queensland has commended the state government and Health Minister Shannon Fentiman for the new Hospital Performance website that provides updates on bed numbers, waiting times and elective surgery lists.
“This is a great step forward in transparency of government and we urge other state governments to follow Queensland’s lead,” AMA Queensland President Dr Maria Boulton said.
“We can’t improve our healthcare system unless we know how it is performing.
“For too long governments at all levels and from both sides of politics have sought to keep hospital performance figures out of public view.
“This will be an invaluable resource when the AMA compiles its annual national Public Hospital Report Card.
“We congratulate Minister Fentiman for her commitment to transparency around health outcomes.”
