GP update on COVID Care

AMA Queensland and the Queensland GP Alliance have been advised that from Monday 17 January 2022, HealthDirect Australia will begin managing the treatment of COVID cases in the community. There is still concern around the lack of communication to GP’s and the community from Queensland health about how this rollout will work.

The initial aim of the rollout involves the introduction of a national adult consumer hotline. As well as the GP led care pathway commencing on 24 January 2022. As of the 14 January 2022 there had been no communication with the private sector about the rollout. This raising great concerns for GP’s due to the key role they are expected to play regarding the management of COVID cases in the community.
