August health and wellbeing tips
August has been National Wellness Month so we thought we would give our practice manager affiliates a few quick and easy tips to help encourage you to create healthy habits and feel better.
Practice self-care
Focusing on your own mental health should be a non-negotiable. Learn about the little things in your life that can wait, and put your time and energy into self-care that will give you more energy to deal with everything else happening in your life.
Consider listening to relaxing music, meditation or a podcast
Music can contribute to a healthy mind and body by lifting your mood, improving concentration and promoting relaxation. Find out what type of audio soothes you. This could be classical or jazz music, a soothing meditation program, or even an insightful podcast.
Good sleep hygiene
Most people need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. In order to get the best sleep, you need good sleep hygiene. Some suggestions to achieve this are to keep your room cool, dark and quiet. A big help will be to shut off all your devices at least 30 minutes before you intend to go to bed. The blue-light from our screens keep our mind activated and make it harder for us to relax. Disconnecting form your phone before bed can help calm a restless mind.
Life can be overwhelming and stressful so we hope these quick tips will help you create healthy habits and allow you to focus a little bit more on your own health and wellbeing.
