Position Statement

Easy Entry, Gracious Exit Model for Provision of Medical Services in Small Rural and Remote Towns - 2019

Easy entry, gracious exit is a model for providing medical services in rural and remote towns which enables rural GPs and rural generalists to work as clinicians without having to become small business owners and managers. The AMA's position statement on the model outlines principles for ensuring the model provides the best level of care to communities while not disadvantaging existing practices.

While this model is not the preferred model for recruiting a rural workforce nor a long-term solution to the maldistibution of Australia's medical workforce, it has been demonstrated to be successful by removing barriers to relocating to rural areas for medical practitioners.
