Three nominate for AMA presidency

The Secretary-General of the Australian Medical Association, Mr Francis Sullivan, today announced three candidates had nominated for the position of AMA Federal President.

Nominations for executive officer positions closed at 1.00pm today. Elections will be held at the AMA National Conference in Melbourne on Sunday 31 May.

Dr Rosanna Capolingua will retire from the presidency at conference, having served two years in the role.
 
The three candidates for President are:

  • AMA Vice President Dr Gary Speck, an orthopaedic surgeon from Melbourne
  • Dr Andrew Pesce, an obstetrician from Sydney
  • Dr Aniello Iannuzzi, a General Practitioner from Coonabarabran, NSW

 Elections for the positions of Vice President, Chairman of AMA Council and Treasurer will also be held at Conference.

Final nominations are as follows:

Vice President:

  • Dr Steven J Hambleton (QLD)
  • Dr Wayne Herdy (QLD)

Chairman of Council:

  • Associate Professor John Gullotta AM (NSW)
  • Dr Roderick McRae (VIC)

Treasurer:

  • Dr Peter Ford (SA)
  • Dr Peter Garcia-Webb (WA)
