Media Advisory Note - For Diary: AMA National Conference 2004 Sheraton Brisbane Hotel

The AMA National Conference will this year be held in Brisbane at the Sheraton Brisbane Hotel.

The official opening of the Conference will be Friday 28 May from 1.30pm.

The Policy Sessions this year are:

  • Your Health is Ours: The Debate - Saturday 29 May from 10.30am.
    The Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Tony Abbott, and the Shadow Minister for Health, Julia Gillard, will debate health policy for the Federal election.
  • Public Hospitals in the Health Care System - Saturday 29 May from 1.45pm.
  • Vision for Health Care - Sunday 30 May from 10.30am.
    An open forum on health policy priorities for the Federal election.

Other Conference highlights include:

  • AMA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Public Report Card 2004: Healing Hands.
  • National AMA/ACOSH Tobacco Scoreboard Award - to the State or Territory doing the best to combat smoking.

The election of AMA office bearers for 2004/2005 will take place at 8.30am on Sunday
30 May 2004.
