Easyclaim Will Be Convenient for Patients

AMA President, Dr Rosanna Capolingua, said today that the AMA is encouraging doctors to adopt the new Medicare Easyclaim system as a service that will be greatly appreciated by their patients.

Dr Capolingua this morning joined Human Services Minister, Senator Chris Ellison, at a demonstration of the system in Perth.

Medicare Easyclaim will allow patients to claim their rebate at the doctor's surgery instead of having to travel to a Medicare office.

Dr Capolingua said medical practices acknowledge that they are taking on an additional responsibility to provide Easyclaim, but promised streamlining and improvements to the system - plus the satisfaction of providing a service to their patients - will encourage doctors to embrace the new technology.

"Doctors' practices will have to accommodate the extra aspects of providing Easyclaim to ensure that patient queues do not occur in doctors' surgeries as they occur at Medicare offices," Dr Capolingua said.

"We known that Easyclaim will be of benefit to patients, and we have worked with the Government to deliver this service.

"The AMA is confident that many more doctors will be ready to embrace Medicare Easyclaim when it is fully operational nationally in March next year.
