AMA's Best in Show

AMA President, Dr Mukesh Haikerwal, last night recognised the successes of the AMA State and Territory branches with a number of special Awards.

Each year State and Territory AMAs are asked to enter submissions for Awards in the categories of Best Public Health Campaign, Best Lobby Campaign, Best State Publication and Best State Website.

This year's highly deserving winners are:

Best Public Health Campaign: AMA Queensland - "Kidz GP Campaign"

AMA Queensland's Kidz GP Campaign is the winner of this award for a second year running. As an ongoing campaign, AMA Queensland has implemented a program to educate Queensland children in an innovative manner about healthy eating and exercise.

Best Lobby Campaign: AMA South Australia - "Election Priorities for Health 2006 and Beyond"

This successful campaign for increased funding was timed to coincide with lead-up to the 2006 SA election. Judges described the campaign as comprehensive, appropriately timed and highly effective. The Rann Government agreed to commit an extra $350 million in health funding, much of it targeted to areas specifically identified by the AMA.

Best State Publication: AMA Queensland for their publication, Doctor Q

AMA Queensland's publication Doctor Q came out as clear winner for this keenly contested award, through close attention to their readers' needs and by making many changes over the year to become a practical and enjoyable resource.

Best State Website: AMA Queensland

AMA Queensland scooped their third award for the year with a website the judges found to be comprehensive, easy to use and visually appealing.

AMA Northern Territory was given an honourable mention for their new-look website, which has gone through a major reworking in the last year.

Dr Haikerwal praised the high quality of work being undertaken by all the State and Territory AMAs on behalf of their members and patients, and their continued efforts to advance the interests of their members.
