AMA forms partnership with American Express

AMA President, Dr Kerryn Phelps, announced today that the Federal AMA has entered into an affinity card partnership agreement with American Express, effective from January 2003.

Dr Phelps said American Express had bid successfully for the AMA business after expressions of interest were sought to contest the business, held for some time by Diner's Club International and due for renewal at the end of December 2002.

Diner's Club was unsuccessful in its bid to continue a long and successful association with the AMA.

"American Express made a submission that better complemented the AMA's member services program at this time," Dr Phelps said.

"American Express has offered an attractive range of products and services to AMA members.

"The AMA looks forward to a fruitful partnership with American Express that will deliver benefits and opportunities to our 27,000 members and our organisation.

"I thank Diner's Club International for their years of service to our members and the Association," Dr Phelps said.
