AMA Family Doctor Week
MEDIA ALERT
AMA FAMILY DOCTOR WEEK, 21- 27 July 2014
Your Family Doctor – Keeping You Healthy
Family Doctor Week is the AMA's annual celebration of the hard work and dedication of the nation's GPs – your family doctors.
The AMA Family Doctor Week theme this year is Your Family Doctor – Keeping you Healthy.
Throughout Family Doctor Week, the AMA will be issuing media releases about the vital role played by family doctors in primary health care, and raising contemporary health policy issues – such as the proposed GP co-payment, changes in medical training, and other Budget measures – that will affect family doctors and their patients.
The AMA will be highlighting the need for people to look after their health through regular checks with their family doctor for:
· Immunisations;
· Glaucoma;
· Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Blood Sugar Levels;
· Bowel Cancer Screening;
· Mental Health;
· Child and Infant health;
· Pap Smears;
· Breast screening; and
· Annual health checks.
The AMA encourages local media to make contact with family doctors in your town, suburb, or local community to hear their stories about the joys and the challenges of providing quality health care in your area.
