AMA Awards Men's Health Award

Brisbane's Dr Herbert Clifford Wright has been awarded the AMA Men's Health Award for 2005 in recognition of his major contribution to men's health in Australia.

The ward to Dr Clifford Wright was announced at the opening ceremony of the AMA National Conference in Darwin today.

Dr Clifford Wright graduated over fifty years ago from the University of Melbourne with both a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.

He moved to Queensland in 1970 and has been working in General Practice to the present day.

Dr Wright has a passionate interest in the health and wellbeing of war veterans and their families.

In 1989, he was awarded the TPI Association certificate of appreciation.

In 1993, he was honored with an Order of Australia in recognition of his services to war veterans and their families.

Over the years, he has been awarded many certificates of appreciation from War Veterans' Associations.

In 2003, AMA Queensland awarded him a certificate of achievement for his contribution to the healthcare services of Queensland.

Dr Herbert Clifford Wright has carved out a unique place in Australia through his care for and dedication to Australian war veterans - a very special field of men's health.
