Workplace Relations

Recruitment

The recruitment process can be challenging but we are here to help! We can provide guidance on the best practice approach for you and your practice so you can attract and recruit the best candidates.

The WR team have received quite a few calls recently from practices who are struggling to recruit the best possible candidates for their team, and enquiring if we can assist. To confirm that the WR team cannot actively recruit for you, but we can absolutely assist you with the process by way of the Workplace Relations Recruitment Pack.

The recruitment pack provides assistance with the following:

  • workforce planning
  • recruitment as part of the employment lifecycle
  • best practice approach to recruitment
  • recruiting process flow (with accompanying documents)
  • methods of recruitment
  • legal obligations
  • keeping the right records
  • new employee records

Feedback from practice managers is that they sometimes find the process of recruitment laborious and time-consuming, especially if it has been unsuccessful. To ensure you commence and go through  the process with everything you need so this can be avoided we can provide guidance with:

  • checking that the position description is a true reflection of the role being advertised
  • creating selection criteria for the position
  • providing guidance on phone screening and shortlisting candidates
  • arranging and conducting interviews
  • checking references and working rights
  • if all goes well…making an offer

Even during the recruitment process, you must be aware of your legal obligations under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and the Fair Work Act 2009 which is enforceable by the Queensland Human Rights Commission.

The Recruitment Pack is free to Toolkit Subscribers. If you are not a Toolkit subscriber and are interested in purchasing, please reach out to the Workplace Relations team on 07 3872 2264 or on email at workplacerelations@amaq.com.au
