Wage review

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has confirmed a provisional timetable for its annual wage review. This usually takes place from March to June.

The Fair Work Act 2009 requires a panel of experts to review areas such as, the minimum wages in modern Awards and the national minimum wage order from the previous annual wage review. The national wage order comes into operation on 1 July each year and covers employees in the national system. These changes, directly affect private practice owners and their staff covered under the Health Professional and Support Services Award 2020 and the Nurses Award 2020

When the updated wage-review has been published you can get in contact with the Workplace Relations Team and we will be able to assist with any questions you may have. We will also send out an update to our members on relevant changes.

It is important that practices are keeping up-to-date with wage increases or changes to the minimum wage standards as failure to do so could result in claims for back pay and possible penalties for breaching the Fair Work Act 2009. Staying updated means checking current contracts and making sure they reflect these changes or issuing change in remuneration letters to each of your employees.
