Crazy socks 4 docs winner

Congratulations to Dr Lily Vrtik, our Crazy Socks 4 Docs competition winner.

Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day aims to raise awareness of doctors' mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding it.

We asked members to post photos of themselves with their colleagues with their crazy socks and to tag AMA Queensland to help spread the message.

Plastic surgeon Dr Lily Vrtik posted a photo with the message:

"Today (and everyday) we advocate for destigmatisation of mental health issues in health professionals. We look out for each other.

I wouldn’t be able to do what I do in the operating theatre without my nurse surgical assistants. They not only make sure my day runs smoothly and the patients are reassured, they also look after me, including making sure I am fed and watered. They take the stress out of my job and allow me to focus on my patients."

Dr Vrtik won a huge prize pack: $150 Prezzee vouchers, a weighted blanket, sleep mask and two tickets for our fast-selling Dinner for the Profession, thanks to our competition partner Doctors Health Fund.

Thank you to all members who posted their photos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

On Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day, AMA Queensland called on the State Government to convene a Doctors’ Mental Health Summit to bring together experts, government, academics, medical leaders and doctors to work on practical solutions to ease pressures on the medical workforce, particularly on doctors in training and medical students.
