Executive Director of the Queensland Health Communicable Diseases Branch Dr Heidi Carroll wrote to AMA Queensland President Dr Nick Yim relating to the transfer of vaccines between Queensland Health Immunisation Program registered Vaccine Service Providers.

On 15 August 2024, AMA Queensland President Dr Nick Yim received a letter from Executive Director of the Queensland Health Communicable Diseases Branch Dr Heidi Carroll regarding the transfer of vaccines between Queensland Health Immunisation Program (QHIP) registered Vaccine Service Providers (VSPs).

The letter provides additional details to the QHIPs request on 5 July 2024 for all VSPs to cease the practice of transferring of National Immunisation Program (NIP) and state-funded vaccines between VSPs until further notice.

The letter includes information regarding a new support tool to assist providers in identifying whether they are authorised to transfer vaccines

The Department is working on a legislation solution to enable the transfer of vaccines by all provider types and will continue to update us as their work progresses.
