Primary Sense tool launched
The new version of Primary Sense – a population health management and clinical audit tool for extracting, analysing and managing deidentified general practice data in a confidential and safe way has been made available.
As a PHN-owned and operated initiative, Primary Sense can only be used by PHNs and general practice staff and the commercialisation of primary care data is not permitted.
Primary Sense offers general practices:
-
one click reports
-
real time medication safety alerts, patient care prompts and notifications
-
the ability to stratify patients into different bands or levels of complexity using the Johns Hopkins University ACG® System
-
leading data security, rigorous data governance and privacy and advanced analytics due to being hosted in Primary Health Insights (PHI)- the PHN-owned, highly secure data storage and analytics platform
-
preservation of patient and practitioner privacy.
Supported by Gold Coast PHN, WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) led the project to produce Primary Sense 2.0 and host it within PHI. WAPHA worked closely with general practices, universities and representatives from peak bodies to up-scale Primary Sense for broader use by more PHNs across the country.
WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA), Brisbane North PHN, Brisbane South PHN, Northern Sydney PHN, Nepean Blue Mountains PHN and Primary Health Tasmania are starting the rollout of Primary Sense to general practices in their jurisdiction. Other PHNs that have committed to offering Primary Sense will be onboarded in the coming months.
