Applying for additional Medicare provider number
AMA members are encouraged to lodge applications for Medicare provider numbers early to avoid delays in processing.
Services Australia experiences a peak in provider number applications at this time of year which means it can take longer to process applications.
If you already have a provider number and need to apply for an additional one, it’s faster to do this online. You can apply for an additional provider number through Health Professional Online Services (HPOS). You can also update your contact and bank account details using HPOS. To use HPOS, you’ll need a PRODA account.
