New Guidelines for Physical Activity during Pregnancy now available
GPs can now access the new evidence-based Physical Activity Guidelines for Pregnancy (Guidelines) released by the Australian Government, which aim to provide recommendations for Australians on physical activity during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
The Guidelines may be used to encourage those who are pregnant to achieve levels of physical activity recommended for optimal health for them and their baby. They also provide health professionals with evidence-based guidance on optimal physical activity behaviours during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
The Guidelines were developed by experts following a review and synthesis of the evidence, with input from national and international stakeholders.
