Yellow Fever Awareness

With upwards of 30,000 Australians (spectators, athletes, support staff and sports administrators) expected to travel to Brazil to attend the 2014 FIFA World Cup between 12 June 2014 and 13 July 2014, GPs are encouraged to support efforts to prevent yellow fever infection by advising yellow fever vaccination prior to travel. Airlines and Immigration may require travellers to show proof of yellow fever vaccination before travelling to or from Brazil. 

Practices are invited to print and display a poster which has been designed to get travellers to think about yellow fever vaccination and how they can protect themselves from mosquitoes. Hard copies of the poster can be requested by writing to humanquarantine@health.gov.au.
