Tips and advice for doctors and medical students—social media guide now available

A new Guide to social media and medical professionalism was officially launched at the AMA Trainee Forum in Melbourne last weekend.

The guide—a joint initiative between the AMA, the New Zealand Medical Association, the Australian Medical Students Association, and the New Zealand Medical Students Association—includes tips and practical steps to help medical students and doctors navigate the social media landscape.

It encourages doctors and medical students to monitor their own Internet presence to ensure that personal and professional information about them is accurate and appropriate, and to maintain appropriate boundaries of the patient-physician relationship when interacting with patients online.

You can access the guide online at https://ama.com.au/article/social-media-and-medical-profession.
