TGA: requirements for health service advertising

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is reminding health professionals that advertisements to consumers for therapeutic goods must not contain references to Schedule 4 or 8 substances or certain Schedule 3 substances. To assist health professionals in complying with the advertising requirements, the TGA has developed an information sheet.

In response to a number of complaints about advertisements to consumers for health services that also promote the use or supply of medicines listed in Schedules 3,4 and/or 8 of the Poisons Standard, the TGA is raising awareness of the therapeutic goods legislative requirements and has developed the information sheet Advertising health services with Schedule 3, Schedule 4 or Schedule 8 medicines, to assist health professionals in complying with the advertising requirements set out in the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
