Rural General Practice Grants (RGPG) Program–EOI’s now open

The Department of Health is inviting rural and regional general practices (MM classification 2-7) to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for grants of up to $300,000 each to deliver improved health services through additional infrastructure, increased levels of teaching and training for health practitioners, and more opportunities to deliver ‘healthy living’ education to local communities.

The AMA, which was consulted in the development of this new round of infrastructure grants, welcomes the simplified application process, broader objectives and more flexible approach than that of the former Rural and Regional Teaching Infrastructure Grants program.

The grants may be used for a range of infrastructure projects, including construction, fit-out and/or renovation of an existing general practice building, and supply and installation of information and communication technology equipment, or medical equipment.

The program has a two-step application process, beginning with a call for EOI’s, followed by an invitation to those organisations identified as suitable to submit a full application. The EOI documentation is available on the Department of Health website. The closing date for EOIs is 2pm AEDT, 15th December 2016. Any enquiries should be directed in writing to Grant.ATM@health.gov.au.
