PNIP Guidelines changed

In other news from the Department of Human Services (DHS) new PNIP Guidelines will soon come into effect, there is a new eLearning program to help you with billing and claiming for skin services, and an updated guide for Closing the Gap (CTG) – PBS Co-payment Measure with more information to help prescribers meet the scheme’s requirements.

Important changes to the PNIP Guidelines include:

  • PNIP payments aren’t available for after hours services that give care outside normal hours of general practice;
  • PNIP payments aren’t payable to Medical deputising services; and
  • supervising arrangements must be documented if the employer of an enrolled nurse and a registered nurse are different.

It is recommend that general practices read the new Guidelines to ensure they still meet the eligibility requirements. If not, you will be required to withdraw online via HPOS by 30 April 2017 or alternatively complete and fax a form to DHS by 24 April 2017.
