New guide to preventing and treating tick bites

The Department of Health (DoH), in collaboration with the National Arbovirus and Malaria Advisory Committee, has recently rewritten an educational guide on preventing and treating tick bites that is now available on the DoH website.

The guide describes the types of ticks found in Australia and their life cycle, with a particular focus on the Paralysis Tick, which is responsible for over 95 per cent of tick bites in Eastern Australia. The guide also explains how the Paralysis Tick affects humans, how to prevent tick bites, and how to remove them.
