New Diabetes Task Force

The Minister for Health, Peter Dutton, as part of the Coalition’s election commitments, recently announced plans for a new National Diabetes Strategy. In announcing the plans, Mr Dutton said that it is important that doctors and other health professionals are supported by a system that enables them to provide patients with best practice treatment and management of diseases like diabetes.

An expert Advisory Group, co-chaired by The Hon Judi Moylan, President of Diabetes Australia, and Professor Paul Zimmet, Director Emeritus and Director of International Research, Baker International Diabetes Institute, will consider available evidence and consult with a wide range of stakeholders to inform the development of the Strategy. The Advisory Group’s membership and terms of reference are yet to be determined. The AMA looks forward to providing input to the development of Strategy.
