MJA queries: Are we seeing the end of general practice as we know it?

The 21 July issue of the Medical Journal of Australia looks at how times are changing for general practice. In MJA Podcast, Dr Brian Morton, Chair of the AMA Council of General Practice, discusses copayments, workloads and Family Doctor Week. The editorial discusses the global opportunities and obligations for Australian general practice, and there is an interesting article about how three weeks’ rural experience have given students positive feelings about rural health care. Also in this issue, barriers to optimal antibiotic prescribing in nursing homes are identified, and the effectiveness of GP monitoring of influenza vaccine is discussed.
