MERS Coronavirus infections declining - 23 October 2014

According to the Department of Health’s latest update on the MERS Coronavirus, as of 17 October 2014, there have been 883 laboratory-confirmed cases world-wide since the first cases were reported in September 2012. Three hundred and nineteen are known to have died, and the case fatality rate is 36 per cent. Only 32 cases have been reported with onset dates between July and 17 October 2014, a marked decrease compared with March to June 2014 (>600 cases).
