Medicare patient cheques are stopping

The Department of Human Services latest News for Health Professionals contains a reminder that from 1 July 2016, Medicare patient cheques are stopping.  Patients will need to register their bank details so they don’t miss out on their Medicare benefit.

Whether patients claim on the spot at the practice, online, over the phone or at a service centre, once their bank account details are registered, their Medicare benefit will be paid directly into their bank account.

The change does not include Pay Doctor Via Claimant (PDVC) cheques as these will continue.
