The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has prepared some resources to assist doctors and other medical professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically designed for healthcare workers, the resources outline the deductions that can be claimed to make it easier for doctors to prepare and lodge their tax returns.

Resources include:

  1. Doctor, Specialist or Other Medical Professional Poster - This poster provides helpful information on which expenses workers in these professions can and cannot claim at tax time.
  2. Healthcare Worker Toolkit – This toolkit contains four posters: one for doctors, specialists or other medical professionals; one for nurses, midwives or carers; one for cleaners and one for office workers. It also contains a general work-related expense guide for the healthcare sector.
  3. Working from home Tax Time Poster – includes details of what can be claimed during this period (for any administrative staff who have transitioned to working from home).

In addition, information about administrative measures implemented by the ATO to assist Australians experienced financial difficulty due to COVID-19 can be found here
