Medical Journal of Australia: Diabetes - Time to rethink our strategies

Diabetes is the focus of the latest issue of Medical Journal of Australia. Editorials look at diabetes and the human condition, and weight loss options in general practice. Research reports include the efficacy of bariatric surgery performed in the public sector; combination phentermine and topiramate for weight maintenance; and doctors’ knowledge of the law on withholding and withdrawing life-sustaining medical treatment. There are also debates about lower treatment targets and diagnostic thresholds for gestational diabetes.

Also in this issue: reflections of the past and current presidents of the AMA; an article warning of the increased risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from home gas heaters in the cooler months; and much more.
