Healthy communities: creating a lasting change through volunteering

If you are a health professional with expertise in obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, sexual and reproductive health and rights and are interested in volunteering abroad with VSO, we would love to hear from you.

VSO is the world’s leading international development charity that works through volunteers to create a fair world for everyone. Over the past five years we have helped over 3.5 million people access better healthcare.

We connect volunteers with health workers, communities and governments to improve health services and rights for some of the most marginalised and disadvantaged members of society - including women, babies, youth, people with disabilities, and prisoners.

VSO provides a support package which includes:

  • basic living allowance
  • accommodation
  • medical cover
  • travel expenses
  • extensive on boarding training and support from local staff when you’re overseas
  • resettlement support programme after the placement.

Poor health creates a vicious cycle of poverty. Those in poverty become too ill to work, and money spent accessing healthcare pushes people further into poverty. Do you have the skills, experience, ideas, energy and courage to make a difference? The communities we work in need people like you!
