Consultation for the 2016-17 Aged Care Approvals Round

GPs are invited to participate in the Department of Health’s consultation to help identify community needs and inform the distribution and targeting of new residential aged care and Short-Term Restorative Care places to be made available in the 2016-17 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).

GPs can participate in the consultation process by completing the 2016-17 ACAR - Identifying Aged Care Needs Consultation form, which takes about 10-15 minutes to complete for a single location. Multiple submissions can be made to highlight aged care needs in more than one location. The consultation form and further instructions are available on the Consultation Hub. Responses should be submitted by COB 19 August 2016.

The consultation will help the department better understand local-level aged care needs, particularly related to specific geographic locations, special needs groups or other key issues. Responses will be used to provide further insight into the department’s planning data.

Participants will be asked to identify areas of need by SA3, which form part of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) framework. Links to an interactive map for this purpose are contained within the consultation form.
