AMA supports overseas doctors in trouble
The AMA has written to the Prime Minister Tony Abbott asking the Australian Government to:
- call on the Turkish authorities to immediately drop legal action against Turkish doctors who provided emergency medical care to people injured during the protests in Istanbul in May; and
- contact the President of the Republic of Sudan to request the immediate unconditional release from prison of Dr Meriam Yeyha Ibrahim, a young Sudanese doctor, sentenced to 100 lashes for adultery and to death for apostasy (abandoning a belief or principle).
